• I have a solution but the # C13701 would not fit based on the dimensions you mentioned. This hitch fits up to 51 inch wide trailer frames measured from outside to outside so since your frame measures 54 inches you'd instead want the Curt # 13703 which fits frame widths of 22 to 72 inches.

• Yes, if you wanted to weld on the Demco coupler part # DM37ZR instead of bolting it on you certainly could. This is powdercoated though so you will need to remove the powdercoating first. For a similar coupler that was designed to be welded on and instead is just primed we have the part # DM14791-97 which has a 10k capacity, the same latch design, and fits a 2 inch hitch ball.
